I wouldn’t want to smell it but I would like to see it in full bloom.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) _ A rare plant is causing a big stink at Virginia Tech. People are crowding the school’s greenhouse to see and get a whiff of the so-called “corpse flower.” The plant experts say their stinky flower could bloom any minute. It smells like rotting flesh. Once it does bloom, the odor lasts for about eight hours. Curator Debbie Wiley-Vawter says despite the smell, the plant’s a beauty. She says the seven-to-12 foot tall plants have unique, vibrant textures and colors.
This is what the flower looks like.
