My nursing programs starts next month. I’m a little nervous and a little excited. I know it’s going to be extreemly hard, but it will be worth it in the end.
I’m trying to get myself ready. I got BLS certified a couple of weeks ago and I’m in the process of getting shots, drug tests, PPD tests, books and supplies. I still need to buy my uniforms which by the way are really UGLY! I am waiting until the last minute to get them because I’m losing weight. If I buy them now they will be too big by the time school starts. I have already bought a stethoscope and bandage scissors but I still need to buy a blood pressure cuff and a few other medical supplies. I still need to buy some nursing shoes too.
The program that I am staring is a LPN program (LVN in some parts of the country) I still have a few of Pre-req’s to finish before I can start the RN program but plan to do that as soon as possible. My LPN program is 16 months long(counting all the breaks). As soon as I finish it I plan to bridge over to the RN program, it should take me an additional 2 to 3 semesters to finish. All together I’m looking at 2 1/2 to 3 years to complete my RN. At least in a year and a half I will be a nurse and can work as a LPN making decent money while I finish up my RN degree.
